Fall detection is a growing field, and has already gone beyond the traditional pendant. Just recently, a man was on a hike in Hartshore Woods Park, New Jersey, when he ended up sliding down a steep cliff and falling into the river below.
His Apple Watch detected the fall and called 911. He was then able to get medical help sent his way. The man has since recovered, and credits the Apple Watch for saving his life.
