It’s no surprise to anyone that 2020 was an unpredictably difficult year. But if there is a silver lining, it put on full display the resilience and perseverance of our industry. All of us had to become agile almost immediately. We can reflect upon last year as a year that our industry was perhaps as flexible as it has ever been.
The reality of the wholesale monitoring industry is that nothing can ever get in the way or prevent us from doing our duties — not even a global pandemic. AvantGuard lead the way by creating a plan to move our operations out of the corporate office, and provide the ability to work from home. This took a lot of planning, innovation and an unprecedented amount of work from our IT team. And we have still been able to meet and even exceed performance standards set by the UL.
AvantGuard even participated in a webinar with other wholesale monitoring companies to demonstrate how we were able to shift to a work from home model so quickly. Everyone was impacted by the pandemic, and it was great to see all of the willing participation in our industry to make changes and continue to provide nonstop service to our customers.
Growth and Innovation
The pursuit of growth and innovation at AG did not stop with the pandemic. In fact, in July of 2020, Becklar (AvantGuard and Freeus parent company) united with BV Investment Partners from Boston Massachusetts for a partnership to bring growth to both businesses.
Josh Garner, CEO of Becklar said about the new partnership, “We are very excited to join forces with BV. They are a leading middle-market private equity firm that focuses on tech-enabled business services, software and IT service sectors. Their strategic perspective will benefit us immensely.”
BV Managing Director Justin Garrison added, “We believe that Becklar has built an outstanding company. We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with them over the coming years.”
Virtual Trade Shows
ISC West chose to postpone the giant security industry trade show in 2020, but other events and tradeshows pushed on. CES announced it was moving to an online show for 2021, and was recently just completed. AvantGuard sponsored the 5th annual WAESA Security and Integrations Symposium that took place online in November. AG also continued to host several online webinars that covered a wide variety of topics throughout the year with record attendance and participation.
A Bright Future
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that our industry can and will do what it takes to continue to successfully serve our customers. We have proven that we can show great flexibility and resilience no matter what is thrown our way. If we had to guess, 2021 will be a year of continued innovation and transformation on a road to growth for the industry as a whole.
