Bristol, PA–Many elderly benefit from routine medicine that helps improve their quality of life, however, when something unexpected happens with the medicine, immediate help may be needed.
Such was the case with Lora, an AvantGuard Operator, when she answered a distressed call from Ricky. When she asked if everything was alright, the only thing Lora could hear was a slurred male voice. She couldn't make out what he was saying, so she kindly asked again. Although it was very difficult to decipher, Lora heard the words "hospital" and "limbs are numb".
Ricky, who has a heart condition, had recently visited the doctor and had a change to his medication. This change affected him adversely and created a problem with blood flow to his extremities. Ricky was experiencing early signs of a stroke.
Without a moment's wait, Lora called dispatch and updated Ricky's family. Paramedics arrived quickly and transported him to the nearest hospital.
After a three-day stay in the hospital, Ricky is back at home and feeling better. He is grateful for Lora's quick and courteous response.
This is a perfect example of how, compassionate and consistent service at AvantGuard saves lives every day.
We would like to thank Bristol Paramedics and the provider of Ricky's emergency medical device for saving the day.
