Tech Saturday: Lucy

Some of the newest technology doesn’t require a fancy new home, or all up-to-date features or wiring. Lucy, introduced at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, is a vacuum security system. Yes, you read that right.

What Is A Vacuum Security System?

Well, that’s a good question. Imagine your typical roomba fused with a surveillance camera. Lucy is an AI vacuum that learns and interacts with the environment. Not only does she keep your home clean, but she keeps intruders away too.

Lucy boasts a 1080P camera, a depth sensor that can spot movement even at night, and awareness of items smaller than an inch. By scanning and detecting the smallest possible objects, Lucy is able to identify people, pets and furniture. She even maps out your house for you.

Further, Lucy runs for up to two hours at full charge, offers 3,000 Pa of suction, and has a dustbin capable of storing 600 ml worth of crumbs, pet hair, and whatever else you can think of.

The Applications

While this particular technology could seem over the top to most, integrating security into our daily lives is a must. The further technology like this grows, the more peace of mind and safety we will have.

Lucy also interacts with the owner in multiple ways. The Alexa-enable devices also come with a unique app to send you alerts when an unwanted person or noise has been detected in your home. Unfortunately, Lucy isn’t available for purchase yet. However, this is one product that we here at Avantguard can’t wait for.
