AG Run for a Reason 2022 Recap

Oct 10, 2022 10:00:00 AM

Community is a significant priority to us at AvantGuard. We feel the same sense of commitment and responsibility to serving our local communities as we do to our employees, dealers, partners, and subscribers spread across the United States.

In support of the communities we operate in, we host annual “Run for a Reason” 5K events in Rexburg, ID, Cedar City, UT, and Ogden, UT, to raise funds for local families struggling financially due to medical issues. Local businesses sponsor the events, and employees, family members and friends in each community run and donate. This year, thanks to the generosity of many sponsors and participants, AvantGuard and the AG Cares Foundation are pleased to announce that we raised over $59,000. All proceeds go to the families in need

Ogden 5K

The AG Ogden 5K was held on September 10, 2022, for Lucas Larkin and the Larkin family. There were over 200 participants in the race. Through registrations and donations, AG was able to raise over $23,000 for the Larkin family.

Young Lucas has a unique enthusiasm for large garbage trucks. To make the event more special for him, our event committee arranged for Ogden City to bring in a utility truck and let Lucas press all the buttons and pull all the levers. He had a blast! The Larkin family was overwhelmed with gratitude for the support they felt from the community.

Lucas was diagnosed with CLN2 Batten's Disease, a rare disease that causes loss of mobility, blindness, and speech loss. His treatments include 4.5-hour long transfusions every two weeks and has been a big financial and emotional burden on the family.

Rexburg 5K

In Rexburg, AG’s “reason to run” was for little Klaire Jardine and the Jardine Family. The race took place on September 17, 2022, raising over $18,800 for the Jardine family. Klaire’s father, Jason, and his father-in-law had participated in last year’s Rexburg 5K for the Tagg family, and were thrilled to run for Klaire this year. The Jardine’s were appreciative and filled with emotion for the support and outpouring of love from the community. There were over 120 that ran for Klaire and even more who donated.

Klaire was born with PHACE which causes congenital abnormalities. There is no cure for PHACE as an infant, but treatments are necessary to manage the disease.

Cedar City 5K

The first inaugural Cedar City 5K was held on September 24, 2022, almost exactly one year after AvantGuard opened their third central station in Cedar City, Utah. The 5K was in support of Hudson Hunter and the Hunter family.  Over 90 people registered for the race. The participation and donations raised over $17,500 for the Hunter family. His parents, Rachel and Kory, along with extended family, were emotional and extremely grateful for the support from AvantGuard and all the participants.

Hudson was diagnosed with stage 4, high risk Neuroblastoma. His cancer has spread throughout his skeleton and requires extensive treatments including chemotherapy. The Hudson family travels 250 miles per hospital visit for Hudson’s treatments.

Giving Back

At AG, we‘re always looking for ways to give back to the communities we operate in to build deeper, more meaningful connections that enable us to put down roots where we can accomplish our mission - to save lives, protect property, and inspire peace of mind for people throughout North America.

We hope that the money raised can help eliminate some of the financial stress for each of these families. Everyone at AG expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in and donated to this year’s fundraisers.
