AG Heroes | Burglary in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, LA – It was a typical Tuesday afternoon. Craig wrapped things up at work, got in his car, and headed home. But seeing cop cars in his driveway when he arrived at his house was anything but typical.

A break in—that’s what the police determined it to be. Earlier that afternoon, at least two people attempted to break into his house. He saw how the back door hung awkwardly on its hinges. The perpetrators had kicked it in.

As he looked around, Craig realized that despite the damage to the door, the buglers hadn’t taken much. A laptop was missing as well as his lawnmower, but that was all they got to. Luckily his house had an alarm system in place. Once the door was kicked in, the alarm sounded—scaring away the burglars before they could get to the rest of the house.

Kailie was the AvantGuard operator who responded to the alarm signal. “I called Craig’s home phone twice, but there was no answer,” she recalled. “So, we dispatched the police to be safe.”

Though shaken about the incident, Craig was very grateful to have an alarm system in his time of need. “The whole situation could have been much worse without the alarm,” he states. Craig was glad it went off quickly and the burglars weren’t able to steal or damage more of his property.

We’d like to thank the police of Baton Rouge for their swift response after the incident at Craig’s house.
